The restaurant
Since its origins, Restaurant Bar Da Pietro has been a feature of Piazza Duomo the heart of Como’s beautiful historic centre and a prime example of Italian cultural and artistic heritage.
Starting out in 1948, the Porrini family, thanks to the tireless passion of grandfather Pietro, conceived and developed a new concept of catering; the original family-owned Bar Bottegone and the subsequent purchase of the adjacent rooms formerly belonging to a butcher shop, came together in 1955 in the opening of Restaurant Bar Da Pietro, the first diner of its kind to stay open late into the night. Since then the restaurant has become a prime location for gourmets and food lovers, renowned not only in Como and nearby Milan but throughout the whole of Italy; in recognition of his achievements Pietro was awarded the honour of Cavaliere del Lavoro, the highest and most prestigious honour awarded in industry in Italy. The philosophy of the founder – in Pietro’s words “the best professional reward is customer satisfaction” – has been passed down and preserved for future generations. While faithfully keeping in line with the original philosophy, since 2014 Pietro, young bearer of his grandfather’s name and current owner, has brought into the business an innovative drive, selecting a young and capable team, passionate about perfection.
Today the restaurant offers an everchanging experience: our daily mission is the fulfilment of the expectations of every customer, through the offer of a range of traditional local delicacies in a modern and revisited fashion.
